A LITTLE ABOUT
The Area
Located in central Stromness, we are only a 2 minute drive from the Northlink Ferry Terminal. Stromness is an ancient sea port, with an extensive seafaring history, from ancient viking era rule, to John Rae setting off to explore the North West Passage in Canada, while recently changing course, to become Europe’s leader in the Tidal and wave renewable energy industry. As you walk down the quaint cobbled streets of Stromness, full of narrow lanes and slipways you will find art galleries including the world-renowned Pier Arts Centre, The Stromness Museum and art and craft shops. The Stromness Golf Course is a 2 minute drive away, and is surely one of the most scenic golf courses you can play in Britain. Boasting fantastic views of the Hoy Hills, Scapa Flow and on a clear day you can see mainland Scotland, while there is always passing marine craft in various shapes and sizes, and if exceptionally fortunate you might see a pod of Killer Wales, Dolphins or seals. There are many lovely coastal walks around Stromness to explore. If you wish to dive the WW2 wrecks in Scapa Flow or partake in sea angling the port again is a 2 minute drive away.
While you benefit from free on-site parking during your stay, the central location means that all local amenities are within walking, or cycling distance, should you prefer, Hotels, Bars, Café`s, Shops, Bank, Post Office, etc.
